What ONE thing should you tackle first to boost your business online?

🖥️ Refresh Your Website

Paragraph Line Break

✓ Your website isn’t keeping up with your business growth.

✓ You’re embarrassed (or at least hesitant) to send people there.

✓ You don’t need a full redesign, just tackle the basics:
A powerful homepage headline, calls-to-action, and fresh, high-quality photos. Even tiny updates can give your site new life.

Where you’re at right now:

You’ve built a business you care deeply about, and you’ve worked hard to get here. But your website? It feels like it’s stuck in the past, still reflecting the ‘you’ of two, three, or even five years ago…

Right now, you might:

  • Cringe a little when someone asks for your website link.

  • Feel like your site doesn’t capture the real magic of what you do.

  • Know your services have grown, but your site hasn’t kept up.

  • Secretly worry your online “first impression” isn’t doing your business justice.

And let’s be real. It’s not that you’re lazy. It’s that you’ve been busy actually running your business.

Serving clients. Building relationships. Growing your expertise…
Updating your site has always been pushed to the bottom of the list, and that’s completely normal.

Online Entrepreneur

👋 Hi, I’m Kate Malcolm!

Kate Malcolm

I’m the founder of Bloom Digital, and I help small business owners make their websites, marketing, and online presence feel way less overwhelming (and a lot more fun).

After moving from England 🇬🇧 to Canada 🇨🇦 and building my own online business from scratch (course launches, podcasts, viral moments and all) I realized my sweet spot is blending creativity with strategy and turning the “ugh, tech stuff” into something approachable and even enjoyable.

I’m here to cheer you on, simplify the noise, and help your business grow online in a way that actually fits you.

Here’s your pep talk:

First off, huge pat on the back for even being here. 🎉
The fact that you took this quiz means you’re self-aware enough to know there’s room for growth… and that already puts you miles ahead. Don’t forget how far you’ve come in building your business. It’s worth celebrating!

Now, let’s talk about your website. Here’s the thing most people don’t realize: Going “viral” on social media might feel exciting, but it’s not where people make serious buying decisions. Social media is where people scroll, browse, and get inspired. Your website is where they decide.

Think of it like this: Your site is the one place people go when they’re already curious, and maybe even ready to buy. That’s powerful. And if your site isn’t clear, professional, and easy to use, you could be losing the very people who are most likely to become your next customers.

Your website should be doing the heavy lifting for you. Imagine having someone on your team who never takes a day off, who’s always welcoming new leads, answering their questions, and guiding them towards working with you. That’s what a high-converting website does.

Here’s the best part: Refreshing your site doesn’t mean scrapping everything or starting from scratch tomorrow. Even small steps (like updating your headline, improving your copy, or adding a strong call-to-action) can make your website feel more like the powerful business partner it’s meant to be.

So if you’ve been procrastinating? That’s okay. You’re not behind. Outgrowing your website is actually a good sign. It means your business is evolving.

And you deserve a website that shows off everything you’ve worked so hard to build.

Even if you don’t do a full redesign right now, here are 5 simple fixes you can make this week to breathe new life into your site 👇

1.

Refresh Your Homepage Headline

Think of your homepage headline as your digital handshake. It’s usually the very first thing people see, and if it’s vague or clever-but-confusing, visitors won’t stick around.

👉 Instead of something like “Creating the life you deserve”, try being crystal clear:
What you do + who you help + where you’re based (if relevant).
Example: “Chiropractic care for women and children in Port Perry.”

That way, your dream customer lands on your site and immediately thinks: “Yes! I’m in the right place.” (And Google will love you too).

2.

Focus on Clear Calls-to-Action

Your website is like a tour guide, but if it’s pointing in ten directions at once, people get lost and leave. Each page should have one main button (repeated is fine) that tells them exactly what to do next.

👉 Examples:

  • “Book a Free Call”

  • “Shop the Collection”

  • “Join the Waitlist”

Keep it consistent and obvious. If someone only remembers one thing after visiting your site, it should be the action you want them to take.

3.

Freshen Up Your Photos

Outdated, dark or mismatched photos can make your whole website feel stale, even if your copy is great. Fresh, high-quality visuals instantly make your site look more modern and trustworthy.

👉 Easy updates:

  • Swap in a recent headshot (even a nice iPhone portrait by a bright window works).

  • Add new photos of your space, products, or team.

  • Or, if you’re not ready for a photoshoot, use high-quality, on-brand stock photos (Unsplash, Pexels, or even Canva Pro have great ones). Just look into their licensing terms.

Think of your photos as the “vibe setters” for your brand. A few swaps can make your whole site feel brand new.

4.

Check Your “White Space”

Think of white space as breathing room for your website. If every section is crammed tightly together (images, text, buttons, all competing for attention) your visitors get overwhelmed fast.

👉 Try spacing things out as you scroll. Add a little extra room between sections, leave space around images, and don’t be afraid of a gap between a photo and the text below it.

White space helps guide the eye, makes your content easier to read, and gives your site a calm, confident, dare I say “expensive” feel.

5.

Revisit Your Story

People don’t just buy what you do, they buy you. When someone lands on your site, they’re subconsciously asking: “Can I trust this person?” and “Do I feel a connection here?”

👉 Take a look at your About section. Is it easy to find? Does it clearly say who you help, why you do this work, and what makes you different, in your voice?

You don’t need a full life story. Even a short, friendly paragraph and a photo of you can build trust fast, help visitors feel more at ease, and make them far more likely to reach out.
