What ONE Thing Should You Tackle First to Boost Your Business Online?
🔍 Focus on SEO + Being Found Online
✓ Right now, your business is a hidden gem: Valuable, but hard to find online.
✓ SEO (search engine optimization) is how people who are already looking for what you do can actually find you.
✓ A few simple changes (like updating your homepage headline, refreshing your Google Business Profile, and writing one blog post that answers a client FAQ) can make a big difference in how visible you are to potential customers.
Where you’re at right now:
You’ve got the expertise, the services, the passion… but it feels like you’re whispering into the void. The people who work with you love what you do, but the frustrating part is, there just aren’t enough of them finding you in the first place.
Right now, your business might look like this:
You rely mostly on word-of-mouth or referrals to bring in new clients.
Your website is live (yay!) but traffic is slow, and you’re not sure why.
You wonder why competitors are showing up on Google while you’re buried on page 3 or 4.
You secretly worry you’re invisible online… Even though you know you have something amazing to offer.
And let me just say: You’re not doing anything wrong.
You’ve been focusing on building your business, serving clients, and keeping the wheels turning. But now you’re ready for more. More visibility, more opportunities, more people finding you without you having to hustle so hard.
👋 Hi, I’m Kate Malcolm!
Founder of Bloom Digital. Website Design and Digital Marketing whizz.
After moving from England to Canada in 2017, I built my own online brand from scratch: launching a course, hosting a Top 10 podcast, even going viral on social media!
Along the way, I discovered my joy: Turning the techy, overwhelming parts of business into something simple, creative, and fun.
Today, I help small business owners finally feel confident, supported, and excited to grow online.
Here’s your pep talk:
First off, huge pat on the back for even being here. 🎉
The fact that you took this quiz means you’re self-aware enough to know there’s room for growth… and that already puts you miles ahead. Don’t forget how far you’ve come in building your business. It’s worth celebrating!
Here’s the thing: Going viral on Instagram is fun, but it’s fleeting.
SEO is different. It’s long-term, sustainable, and attracts people who are already in a buying mindset.
Think about it: People scrolling social media are usually just passing time. But when someone goes to Google and types “chiropractor in Port Perry” or “family photographer near me”, they’re actively looking for a solution. That’s when you want to show up.
Your website should be more than a pretty face. It should be quietly working in the background 24/7, like a team member that never takes a day off. A high-ranking site builds trust, nurtures leads, and makes sales without you lifting a finger.
And here’s the best part: SEO isn’t some scary, jargon-filled mystery. It’s just about helping Google understand what you do and making it easy for the right people to find you. A few small tweaks can start to move the needle, and you don’t have to be a tech wizard to make it happen.
So, deep breath. You’re not invisible. People just need a clearer path to find you, and that starts now.
Get Started
Here are 3 easy things you can do this week to start getting more eyes on your website:
1.
Update Your Homepage Headline
Think of your homepage headline as your “welcome sign.” It’s the very first thing visitors (and Google!) read, so it should spell out what you do in plain English.
👉 How to do it: Swap anything fluffy like “Helping you live your best life” for something specific: “Chiropractic care for women & kids in Port Perry” or “Custom cakes for weddings + events in Durham Region.” That way, no one is guessing. And Google knows exactly where to slot you in search results.
This blog post (click here) is great if you need some inspiration.
2.
Claim (or Refresh) Your Google Business Profile
This one is HUGE, especially for local businesses. Google loves to show those little map results when people search for services near them, and your profile is what puts you there.
👉 Why it matters: A complete, up-to-date profile boosts your visibility for FREE. Plus, customers can see your hours, reviews, photos, and contact info without even clicking to your site.
👉 How to do it: Go to Google Business Profile, claim your business, and fill out everything you can. Add fresh photos, update your hours, and list your services.
Already got one? Give it a refresh this week with a new picture or a short post. Google loves recent activity.
3.
Answer a Client FAQ in a Blog Post
What’s the #1 question you get all the time? That’s your golden ticket for an SEO-friendly blog post. Google loves when you create content that directly answers real questions.
👉 How to do it: Write a quick post (500 words is plenty) answering your client’s FAQ.
Example: If you’re a photographer, “What Should We Wear for Family Photos?” If you’re a nutritionist, “What’s the Best Breakfast for Kids Before School?” Don’t overthink it. Write like you’d answer a friend. Bonus: Share the blog link next time someone asks you the same question.
